West End Montessori Pre-School
Terms and Conditions
Conditions of Enrollment with effect from August 2020
Introduction
The following Conditions of Enrolment apply to all children applying for places commencing at, or already attending the school, with effect from the above date, regardless of the age of the child.
The word “school” includes the staff or legally appointed representative of The West End Montessori Pre-School. The word “parent” includes a legal guardian or any other person allowed by a parent to undertake responsibility for complying with these conditions.
Children are accepted on the understanding that the following conditions will be adhered to. The school’s rights will not be prejudiced by any variation or divergence on the part of the school or its representatives, whether verbal, in writing or implied from these conditions. Any alterations or amendments which may be issued from time to time will be deemed to be incorporated into these conditions.
Registration of a child involves entry into a contract which includes these conditions.
Enrolment and registration
Parents wishing to apply for a place for their child must complete a Registration Form.
For children aged three at entry, we only offer full days attendance (between 8:00 am and 5:30 pm).
For children aged two at entry we offer half day sessions* with a minimum number of four (unless they are eligible twos). This is subject to converting to full days when the child turns three years old, when a new contract will be issued.
* Morning sessions: 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
Afternoon sessions: 1:00 pm to 5:30 pm
The parents of the child will be notified by the Principal whether the application for registration is accepted. The acceptance of a child is at the sole discretion of the school.
Joining Our Waiting list and Acceptance of a Place
On acceptance of joining our waiting list at the school, a reservation fee of £75 shall become due and payable if the child is under three at entry to the school. The reservation fee covers administration. The reservation fee is not refundable. Children joining the nursery at aged three will not be issued a reservation fee.
The school shall offer a place to a child, which shall only be guaranteed on payment of the first month’s fees in full. Should the place not be taken up then this fee is non refundable.
Undertaking by parents
Upon registration, parents are required to provide accurate information listed in our registration form. It is also a legal requirement that parents supply us with your child’s birth certificate and proof of address prior to your child joining the pre-school.
Information supplied to the school by parents must be kept up to date, and any changes or additions in matters such as changes in address, telephone numbers, parents’ places of work, emergency contact numbers, schools for which a child is on a waiting list, medical information or any new information involving a child’s health or welfare or any other information which is material to be known by the school, should be notified to the school in writing without delay.
Payment of fees due by children aged two and three attending above their funded entitlement
Fees include education materials, arts and crafts materials and a mid-morning/afternoon snack. Extra curriculum activities and cost of trips are optional and not included in our fees. Should you opt for your child to participate in these activities, they will be charged separately.
Fees are as stated on the current list of fees which is available on request and which may be revised by the school at its discretion.
All fees are payable monthly in advance on the first day of each month.
Fees are payable by standing order but, with the prior agreement of the Principal, may be paid by another method. Additional costs for trips are payable immediately on request.
Fees may be increased at any time. One term’s notice of such increase will be given to parents.
Each parent named in the application is jointly and severally responsible to pay the fees and any extra costs.
Government Funding of Fees
The school is in partnership with Glasgow City Council and therefore from August 2020 children aged three and over (plus eligible two’s) will be eligible to 1,140 hours of education funded by the local authority.
As we are open 48 weeks of the year the funded hours are therefore spread evenly equating to 23.75 hours per week.
All children aged three can only attend pre-school on a full day basis which will now run from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm. This will utilise 9.5 hours of your weekly eligibility.
Two full days therefore cost nothing and utilise 19 hours. If you wish to come for a third day, then 4.75 hours of that day would be free ad there would be a cost of the remaining 4.75 hours, which would cost £28.00 currently. Additional days would be charged at the pre-school standard fees.
School regulations
Pupils are required to bring indoor shoes and a full spare change of clothes (including nappies, cream, wipes, etc. if necessary).
All articles of clothing, including footwear, must be clearly marked with the owner’s name.
Parents are asked to notify the school when their child has an infectious illness. Absences must be accounted for either by letter when the child returns to school, or by telephoning the school. All letters are to be addressed to the Principal.
Full days run from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm.
Morning sessions run from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Afternoon sessions run from 1:00 to 5:30 pm.
Morning and afternoon sessions are only available to children aged two.
Children should arrive from 8.00 a.m onwards. Registration is done upon arrival.
Children aged two attending morning sessions should leave the premises by 1.00 p.m.
Children aged two attending afternoon sessions should arrive at 1 00 p.m and leave the premises at 5:30 p.m.
All children must be collected by 5:30 pm. A late pick-up charge of £10.00 will be applied for late pick-ups (after 5:30 pm).
Parents may see the Principal and her staff by appointment to discuss any aspects of their child’s school life.
Attendance
Due to the limited number of places and to ensure that all the children benefit from the Montessori method of teaching, all children should attend on their specified days in the school term, unless unable to do so due to illness. Absence for any other reason must be authorised in writing to conform with Government regulations. Note fees continue to be payable during any period of absence whether through illness or any other cause (including holidays out with the pre-school holiday closures).
Behaviour
Pupils are expected to conduct themselves, both in and out of school, in a courteous and respectful manner. Aggressive, threatening, retaliatory or abusive behaviour are incompatible with the philosophy of the school. Parents are expected to discourage such behaviour and to support the school’s policy of requiring children to apologise for inappropriate behaviour or rudeness. Parents should refer any behavioral problems their child may be experiencing to their child’s teacher who will suggest a suitable time for a discussion or refer the matter to the Principal. Such discussions are confidential and should not take place in the presence of, or be reported to, any other children or parents.
Parents are not authorised to deal directly with any child other than their own.
Withdrawal
If parents wish to withdraw their child from the school, they must give one month notice to the school in writing. Fees will be due and payable up to the agreed date of leaving.
If the child is withdrawn from the school without such notice having been given, a month’s fee will be payable in lieu of such notice.
If any payment of fees is overdue for one month, the school may require the parents to withdraw the child from the school by giving one month’s prior notice in writing. Fees will be due and payable to the date of withdrawal.
Once the sessions are established for your child, if you wish to reduce them, one month’s notice in writing will be required.
The school reserves the right at its sole discretion to require withdrawal of a child due to behavioural problems or if its influence is damaging to the school’s standards or reputation. If the school wishes to exercise this right, it shall give one month’s prior notice in writing to the parents. Fees will be due and payable to the date of withdrawal.
If a child is absent from the school for a prolonged period for reasons other than illness, the school reserves the right at its sole discretion to require the withdrawal of the child from the school by giving one month’s prior notice to the parents in writing. Fees will be due and payable to the date of withdrawal.
